Adam Krief (Moshe Chaim ben Rubin Z”L) was laid to rest today at Mount Sinai Hollywood Hills cemetery in Los Angeles.
Everyone was in shock when they heard the news of Adam’s death Tuesday.  Adam was a Jewish father of three young children, Lev, Joel, and Luca,  from Los Angeles. He was diagnosed with a rare form of blood cancer, primary myelofibrosis,  last year. He lost his long and arduous battle at the young age of 32 after his body rejected a bone marrow transplant which was transplanted a few months ago.

Adam reached everyone with his smile and optimism through social media, where we all got a small window into what the struggle was like for this young father of three.

Through social media and the hashtag  #Hope4Adam, Krief’s  campaign reached the hearts of hundreds of thousands of viewers which inspired thousands of bone marrow donors. Adam would  share photos of both good times and bad. The campaign went went viral and celebrities such as Mayim Bialik and Kim Kardashian wrote about him on their social media accounts.

Krief found a  bone-marrow donor in December – in fact seven matches were found, and seven lives were saved through the #Hope4Adam campaign and donor drives which were organised for him.

“This is what cloud 9 looks like … I’m so grateful to let you all know that a donor has been found,” Krief wrote at the time

Thousands arrived today at Mount Sinai Hollywood Hills cemetery even though they knew that their was no room in the chapel and overflow crowds outside. Many did not know him personally but had been following him on social media and Adam had become a person they  felt they knew intimately.
Rachel from Los Angeles was one such person. When she heard of Adam’s death, Rachel  called her sister and just cried and cried. Her sister said, “I don’t know Adam, but I know Adam. Through his photos, his messages, his interactions with the LA community, I have come to know him. I see his smile and I feel as if I am looking at a friend.”

Adam’s family left this heartfelt tribute to him as well as to all those who knew him and heard about him.

“Adam. To the man, the tzadik, who touched the hearts and the lives of all of us. Who united us. Who gave us a reason to come together. To fight. To pray. To love. It’s only fitting that your name is Adam. You represent what it means to be a man. A good man. A strong man. The man we all strive to be. You have left this earth physically, but have left a little piece of you, your goodness, your unwavering will to live, within all of us. You have become our son, our father, our family, our friend. Thank you for sharing yourself with us. Thank you for being you. To know you is to love you. And we love you.

Adam united us all and will continue to do so! The family is touched by all of the love and prayer their son has received from all over the world.

** PLEASE note that any gofundme or other online fundraiser campaigns for Adam are not endorsed by the family. **

Let us all thank Adam for spreading awareness of this deadly disease. For living his life to it’s fullest. Let us pray for his wife and three young children. May Adam’s neshama have the highest aliyah.
