The woman, Chani just went through a bitter divorce and the couple, her fiancée Pinchas and her, were looking forward to a happy marriage.
The couple was in Ukraine for a job opportunity, which ended up being a sham, and also stopped in Uman to pray at the gravesite of Rabbi Nachman of Breslav.
According to family members, somewhere along the way someone had place two pounds of marijuana in their luggage, unbeknownst to them.
They were tipped off to police by someone they suspect was involved in planting the drugs. Authorities were waiting to arrest them at the airport.
At the same time, Chani’s apartment in Israel was broken into and ransacked. When asked by neighbors what was happening, the thieves vaguely said that she wouldn’t be needing her things anymore.
Between the two of them, the couple has 16 children, the youngest of whom is two-years-old, and they are desperate to get back to Israel.
Family member say they need to raise $100,000 to properly be defended at the trial.
The family asks to please donate to the cause as well as saying tehillim for Pinchas Menachem ben Miriam and Chana bas Sarah Rochel.
