(sefer Nechemiah) Shalom to all. I recently arrived in the Holy Land and how amazing it is! My eyes have been witness to many beautiful things these past few days. The scholars have been helping the unlearned to understand the intricacies of the Torah. Also, I have never had the experience of such a unifying chag as the Chag Succot that just past. It's unbelievable!! As there is much to be done, I must go now. I will try to fill you in at a later date. Until then my personal diary is available for your convenience at a seforim store by you! Thanks for all your encouragement and support. (please scroll down to ezra hasofer's post!)

Greetings from the Holy Land! We live in excitement and fear as we continue building the Beit Hamikdash despite persistent opposition from Tuvia, Sanvalat, the Arabs, the Ammonites, and the Ashdodites. Everything is finally coming together-the aristocrats have given our fields and property back and we are once again a nation bi'achdut!

(Sefer Ezra: perek 6) Dear Ezra, It is with great pride and admiration that I allow the return of the Jewish people from my land of Babylonia to their ancestral home of Israel. I hope you had a good journey, not too arduous or tiresome and may you and your people successfully dwell once again in your land. Signed with the royal stamp of Darius, King of Persia

(Sefer Ezra: 5:1) The mighty Lord, who created the Heavens and the earth, the sun, moon, and stars shall proclaim this moment as proof that He is a G-d of truth. He has held to His word as delivered by the prophets to the People of Israel to return Bnei Yisrael to their land following 70 years of exile in Bavel. May it be His will that they continue to thrive and safely rebuild the Temple in Jerusalem. We'd like to thank Ezra and Nechemia for carrying out these words of prophecy. Well Done! Yours Truly, Prophets of Israel

(sefer Ezra) Dear friends, We would like to share our story with you as we make our mark on the history of the Jewish people. Dear diary, It's a few days before Passover and the spirit of the Jewish people is soaring. I'm leaving Babylonia today together with my fellow Kohanim, Levi'im...together with my people. The Jews have been in exile many years now and it's about time I return to my land, to my people, to the G-d of Israel. You should know, that we are not the first to embark on this journey. Sheshbetzar went before us with a small group of Jews to the Holy Land following the edict of Koresh(Cyrus)allowing the return and the rebuilding of the Temple. Every Jewish soul rejoiced when we heard this decree! Sheshbetzar returned with the holy vessels from the first Temple, which Koresh graciously returned to us from Nevuchadnetzer's treasury. Shortly after, a large group of Jews made aliyah led by Zerubavel. What courageous Jews! They went in the thousands, Kohanim, Levi'im, old and young went to the land which beckoned for their return. Upon their return, they laid the foundation for the Second Temple. The older Jews who had seen the first Temple in its glory wept, while the younger Jews were overcome with joy. The Jews back in Bavel were in good spirits and many were eager to join their brothers in the Holy Land. It was a tragic day when word spread that the building had ceased due to opposition from neighboring nations. However, we boosted morale by having faith that the building would continue. Our prayers were answered when permission was granted by Daryaveish (Darius) in the second year of his reign. Under the leadership of Zerubavel the Jews completed the second temple on the third day of Adar in the sixth year of Daryaveish's reign! That Pesach they were able to bring the korban pesach in the Beit Hamikdash! Dear friends. It is hard to express my emotions as I embark on my journey to the Land of my forefathers. I, and thousands with me will join those Jews who have gone before me and built the Second Temple. Well, it's almost time to leave and I must go do a few last minute things. I'll IY"H write again when I arrive in the Holy Land. Hasta La Vista Bavel! signed, Ezra Hasofer For more information on how you can follow in my footsteps please visit www.nbn.org.il They will guarantee you the most efficient and comfortable journey.
