Richard Lakin was a gentle-hearted retired American teacher who fought for human rights and peaceful coexistence all his life. He marched with Martin Luther King Jr and founded a school in Israel where Muslim, Christian and Jewish children studied together. He wrote a book called “Teaching as an Act of Love.” On October 13, 2015, two Palestinian terrorists boarded public bus number 78 in Jerusalem and brutally murdered 3 innocent civilians, injuring 15 others. 76-year-old Lakin was shot in the head and stabbed multiple times in the head, face, chest and stomach, severing most of his vital organs.
