Philip N. Cohen, a Jewish professor of sociology in University of Maryland, is one of the seven individuals who is suing President Trump for blocking him on Twitter. These seven people claim that Trump is violating the Constitution by blocking American citizens on their Twitter accounts.
Trump blocked Cohen when he replied to a tweet from the President on air traffic control. On June 6, 2016, Cohen replied back to Trump with a picture of the president himself captioned, “Corrupt Incompetent Authoritarian. And then there are the policies. Resist”.

This tweet gained 307 likes and 35 retweets. After several minutes, Cohen realized that he was “blocked” by President Trump, so now he can no longer see any of the President’s tweets.

The supreme court stated that “social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter provide perhaps the most powerful mechanisms available to a private citizen to make his or her voice heard.” Cohen is suing Trump for allegedly not following the First Amendment, allowing U.S. citizens to have the right of free speech.
