Orthodox Jew Wins Big on Wheel of Fortune

Yoni Pollak, an Orthodox Jew originally from Houston, Texas now living in New York appeared on Wheel of Fortune a few days ago.

Pollak, a YU alum now working as a network coordinator at the Nachum Segal Network, ended up winning $9,400 answering the final tossup “Crown Jewels” (for $3,000) and the final puzzle “Extravagant Parties” (for $6,400).

Early on he landed on a bankrupt and didn’t get the “R” he was looking for. After that, he didn’t do much with the other two contestants playing well and he was sitting on the side for the most part until the end. Despite his early bad luck, he made a nice comeback.

He flew to Los Angeles January 18th for a January 19th taping. He said he was in studio from about 7:30 AM until 5:00 PM by the time my episode was taped. The show aired on February 10th.

His twin brother Tani Pollak said they had a viewing party to celebrate Yoni’s appearance on the show.
