Happy in Tel Aviv created a hilarious April Fool’s announcement that almost had us going.
They announced a new Tic Tac flavor to be released on Yom Haatzmaut… Hummus flavored Tic Tacs.
After the prank went viral, they wrote the following:
“Hummus flavored Tic Tac? Thanks god it’s not true! But we are very pleased to see how many of you (thousands of crazy people) would try this flavor according to the Facebook Buzz made around this fake news. Actually, multiple media talked about it around the world (here is an article by Forward.com). We are really sorry for the Hummus addicts, you’ll have to keep on eating it from a plate a little longer.”
On Saturday the prank read as follows:
“What the…?! Yes it’s exactly what you’ve read: Tic Tac Hummus! The worldwide candy brand, in partnership with the city of Tel Aviv created this deliciously surprising recipe to celebrate Yom Haatzmaut!
In exactly one month, Tic Tac and the city of Tel Aviv will launch a Hummus flavored limited edition. The candies will be first given out for Yom Haatzmaut along Rothschild Boulevard during the usual celebrations. Starting the next day, they will be available in all supermarkets in Israel until the end of May.
This won’t be the first time that Tic Tac is honoring Israel. Last year, the candy brand commercialized a blue and white limited edition to celebrate the 68th birthday of the State of Israel.”
If you fell for it, you can rest easy knowing that the world hasn’t gone mad.
