What would you say is the holiest day in the Jewish calendar? Yom Kippur? Think again.

The Arizal pointed out the Yom HaKipurim could either translate to “Day of Atonement” or “Day that is like Purim.” This would imply that Purim is the holiest day in the Jewish year.

A prominent theme in Judaism is laughter and Purim is all about laughter. Though Jews are often known to be a funny people, this is not the laughter that Judaism is built on. Laughter comes when things take an unexpected turn and end up the opposite of what we anticipate. Much like the story of Purim and much like our transitions into this world from the womb, our transition to the afterlife and to the days of Mashiach.
