  1. wow. that is almost “gneivat da’at” since so few hair donations actually go to make wigs for cancer patients. fyi – very few hair donations are actually of the quality and quantity needed, correct matching color, etc.). in almost all cases, they sell the hair and use the money for their organization.

    from the zichron menachem website:

    What happens to my hair?

Your hair may become part of a wig for a child with cancer, but it also has a lot more power than that!

Your hair can finance an alternative therapy or drive a sick child to the hospital.

Your hair can be the greatest psychological therapy for a child. It can be a relaxation series. A pain reliever. The most stunning art therapy. A support group. The greatest birthday gift that a child with cancer will receive.

so, why not just come straight out and say the above, instead of continuing to have people believe that their hair will actually become a wig for cancer patients, in israel. i don’t have recent figures, but it is about 90% or more of hair donations that don’t make it.

is it too much to ask for honesty and transparency – especially from an organization that otherwise does good work? wow.
