After a long and hard fought battle with primary myelofibrosis, a type of blood cancer, Jewish father of three Adam Krief has passed away.

Primary myelofibrosis, a rare form of blood cancer, is likely fatal if a stem cell transplant match is not found. To find an HLA, or gene complex match for Krief — something more difficult to track down than a blood type match — drives were held around the world, including in North America, Israel, France and Mexico.

The Krief family started the Hope 4 Adam campaign in the hopes of finding a bone marrow match for Adam. In the process they found seven matches for others seeking donors. They even found a match for Adam himself last December and had begun the process of the transplant.

“This is what cloud 9 looks like … I’m so grateful to let you all know that a donor has been found,” Krief wrote at the time, sharing a video with two of his children.

Unfortunately, after complications arose this week, he was only given a few hours to live. On Monday, the Eretz Kabbalah Facebook page of the Los Angeles-based Eretz Cultural Center posted a call for followers to recite Tehillim for Krief. The emergency tehillim campaign spread like wildfire in the hopes that the multitudes of prayers pouring in could foster a miracle.

“After a long search for a bone-marrow match to save his life, he finally received one. However, after some complications, he is said to only have a few hours to live,” the post said.

Unfortunately, Adam passed away at age 32 on Tuesday. His legacy will live on through his family and the lives his campaign has saved and will continue to save. Krief is survived by his wife, Lia, and his young children.

Levaya for Adam Krief will be Wed 10:00am in Mt Sinai the levaya and kevura will be there. 5950 Forest Lawn Dr.
